Late charities lift Minnesota past New York

— Katie Smith made two free throws with 6.2 seconds left, and the Minnesota Lynx withstood New York's late run to beat the Liberty, 64-60, Friday night.

Vanessa Hayden had 14 points and nine rebounds, Svetlana Abrosimova scored 11 points and Nicole Ohlde and Smith added 10 each for Minnesota (10-8), which snapped a five-game road losing streak.

Crystal Robinson scored 13 points, Ann Wauters had 12 and Shameka Christon 10 to lead the Liberty (8-8), who had their three-game winning streak end.

Sun 70, Comets 66

Uncasville, Conn. - Nykesha Sales had 22 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin pulled down two key rebounds and scored three points in the closing seconds to keep Connecticut perfect at home.

Fever 62, Shock 57

Indianapolis - Tamika Catchings had 20 points, 14 rebounds and five assists to lead Indiana over the Detroit. Jurgita Streimikytehad 13 points for the Fever (10-6).

Storm 92, Stars 70

Seattle - All-Stars Sue Bird and Lauren Jackson combined for all 15 points during a decisive second half run to propel Seattle.

Mercury 77, Mystics 66

Phoenix - Penny Taylor had 31 points for Phoenix.
