Hot weather to extend through weekend

Pull out the sunglasses and ice down some drinks. Lawrence will have another day of clear skies and temperatures in the 90s, says Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist.

“It’s very similar to yesterday as we see hot and muggy conditions to end the work week,” Reith said. “It looks like we will remain dry for a couple of days.”

At 8:15 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 76 degrees, with an 82 percent humidity, north-northwest winds at 3mph and hazy conditions.

The temperature will climb to a high of 93 by late afternoon, Reith said. Skies will be mostly sunny and winds will be from the northeast, 5 to 10 mph.

The 90s will continue through the weekend.

“We look to remain high and dry continuing into the weekend,” Reith said. “The heat is on for the next couple of days.”

Saturday morning’s temperature will start out at 69 degrees and climb to a high of 95 by Saturday afternoon, with southeast winds 8 to 12 mph

Sunday’s morning low will be 70 degrees and reach 96 by Sunday afternoon.

A cold front will arrive in the area on Monday, bringing the possibility of some thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening, Reith said.
