Temperatures to steam into the 90s

Pull out the wading pool and the Slip N’ Slide — Lawrence will have another hot, sunny day, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid 90s.

“It will be hot and sticky out there today,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

At 8:10 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 73, the humidity was 84 percent, skies were mostly clear and winds were from the north-northwest, at 3 mph.

“We have a dry start, with clear skies through the state of Kansas,” Schack said.

Today’s high temperature will reach 93 degrees, with mostly sunny skies, she said. Clear skies are expected overnight and the temperature will drop off to a low of 69 by early Friday morning, she said.

Friday’s temperature will be a bit warmer, with the high climbing to 94 degrees, Schack said.

Saturday morning’s temperature will start out at 71 and climb to a high of 95 by Saturday afternoon.

“I think we’ll end up staying in the 90s through the weekend. There’s a lot of sunshine in the forecast,” Schack said.
