Chicago Board of Trade

Grain and soybean futures advanced Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for September delivery rose 7 1/4 cents to $3.39 3/4 a bushel; September corn rose 9 1/4 cents to $2.44 3/4 a bushel; September oats rose 3 3/4 cents to $1.78 1/2 a bushel; August soybeans rose 12 3/4 cents to $7.14 a bushel.

Pork futures increased on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, while beef futures finished mixed.

August live cattle rose .60 cent to 79.12 cents a pound; August feeder cattle fell .10 cent to $1.0955 a pound; August lean hogs rose .80 cent to 66.85 cents a pound; August pork bellies rose 2 cents to 65.25 cents a pound.

Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows sold 2.00-3.00 lower with slaughter bulls selling mostly 1.00 lower. Slaughter Steers: Part load Select, few Choice 2-3 1030 lbs 78.25.

Slaughter Heifers: Few Select and Choice 2-3 1000-1010 lbs 79.00-80.00.

Slaughter Cows: Breaking 70-80 percent lean bulk 55.00-57.00, high dressing up to 58.50, low dressing 52.00-55.00; boning 80-85 percent lean bulk 55.00-58.00, high dressing 58.00-62.00, low dressing 53.25-55.50; lean 85-90 percent lean bulk 50.00-54.75, high dressing 54.00-57.50, low dressing 40.75-48.00.

Slaughter Bulls: Yield Grade 1-2 1420-2310 lbs 64.00-70.00, low dressing 60.00-65.00.

Bred Cows: Large 1-2 Short and solid to aged 1400-1500 lbs 2nd-3rd stage thin Char X bred cows 855.00-885.00 per head.

Hogs: Estimated Receipts: 200.

Compared to Tuesday, barrows and gilts not established. Pork cut outs up 1.31 Tuesday at 67.73 and USDA confirmed that export demand remains strong.

Sows: Steady; 1-2 300-500 lbs 36.00-37.00; 1-3 500-700 lbs 38.00-40.00.

Boars: Steady; 300-700 lbs 12.00.
