Monday

“Introduction to Writing” class with basic writing techniques for beginning writers, 12:30 p.m., Conference Room at Babcock Place, 1700 Mass. Instructor Diane Lazzarino.

“How to Use Heritage Quest.” Learn how to use the genealogy Web site Heritage Quest. It is a subscription site that can be accessed through the library. 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., auditorium, Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. Presented by Joanne King, reference librarian.

July 20

“Hands-on On-line Genealogy.” Learn how to avoid the pitfalls in computer genealogy searches and how to make your searches more profitable. 10 a.m.-1 p.m., computer lab, Douglas County Senior Center, 745 Vermont. Presented by Linda Lang, of the Douglas County Genealogy Society.

July 25

“Historical Resources: Osma Room.” Find out the resources on local and family histories that are housed at the library and are available for public use. Library as well as material from the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Douglas County Genealogical Society will be shown. 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Osma Room, Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. Presented by Joanne King and Mary Burchill.

July 28

“Historical Resources: Watkins Museum.” Find out the various material that is available for the public to research at the museum. 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Watkins Community Museum of History, 1047 Mass. Presented by Helen Krische, archivist.

Aug. 3

“Scrapbooking.” Learn how to use scrapbooking techniques to showcase photos, mementos or souvenirs. Materials will be provided to make a page. Personal items should be brought by participants. 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Presented by Chris Deman, Crafty & Company.
