BARTLESVILLE, OKLA. ? Lawrence’s Raiders bolted to an early six-run lead with a five-run second inning and knocked off Blue Valley West, 9-4, in the pool-play finale Sunday at the Bartlesville Legion baseball tournament.

Brian Heere went 2-for-3 with a home run and triple, Cory Cooper was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs, and Brett Lisher chipped in two RBIs. Starter Matt Wingert did the rest, improving to 3-1 on the season.

“We hit the ball well early in the second and tacked a few on later,” Lawrence coach Kevin Tucker said. “We got a lot of strikes out of our starting pitcher and played pretty good defense.”

The Raiders, 21-4 overall at 2-1 at the tournament, will play in one of the semifinals at 1 p.m. today against a to-be-determined opponent.
