Rufus A. Bailey, Kansas City, Mo.

? Services for Rufus A. Bailey, 97, Raymore, Mo., will be at 1 p.m. today at Mount Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo. Another service will follow the burial at 3:45 p.m. at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore.

Mr. Bailey died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, in Raymore, Mo.

He was born March 2, 1907, in Osceola, Mo., the son of Joseph A. and Nannie A. Hamilton Bailey. He graduated from Westport High School. He attended University of Kansas City and graduated from the Kansas City School of Law in 1932, where he was senior class president and graduated third in his class. He resided at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore since 1989.

Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was an attorney for the federal government for more than 30 years. He was an elder and chairman of the board at Memorial Christian Church. He was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, Cherokee Christian Church and Raymore Christian Church.

He married Barbara Stoltze in 1938. She died in 1980. He later married Naomi Shields. She died in 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherri Adams, Springfield, Mo., a son, Rich Bailey, Lawrence; four grandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home before the service.
