Kansas women claim second straight victory

? Kansas University’s women’s basketball team claimed its second straight victory, a 65-60 decision over Colorado on Tuesday.

“We are excited that our kids finished the game like they did tonight,” Kansas coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We got good play from our kids off the bench. It was a good team win tonight, and a lot of players stepped up when we needed them to.”

Juniors Crystal Kemp and Erica Hallman combined for 33 points for KU, which held Colorado to just 11-of -31 shooting in the second half.

Hallman led all scorers with 18 points and a game-high seven assists, while Kemp dominated the post with 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Junior Kaylee Brown and sophomore Sharita Smith each added eight points, while senior Aquanita Burras and freshman Taylor McIntosh each chipped in six points.

Freshman Jackie McFarland and sophomore Jasmina Ilic led Colorado with 13 points each. McFarland grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds off the bench. Sophomore Anna Nedovic added 12 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

The Jayhawks improved to 9-8 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12 Conference.

KU will travel Saturday to Nebraska. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
