‘Housewives’ to share views

New York — The ladies at “The View” are getting desperate.

During the week of Feb. 7, the five stars of “Desperate Housewives” will co-host ABC’s “The View” while the daytime talk show broadcasts from Los Angeles. Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Nicollette Sheridan, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross will each join the show for a day.

Broadcasting live from the El Capitan Theatre, the week is a themed series called “The View Celebrates Los Angeles.”

On Sunday, Hatcher won a Golden Globe Award for best actress in a TV comedy or musical. The ABC show also won for best comedy or musical TV series.

The other hosts of “The View” are Barbara Walters, Star Jones Reynolds, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. The show airs weekdays on ABC.

Big names to offer voices on tsunami relief single

London — Elton John and Andrea Bocelli are joining several other major recording artists to produce a single to aid victims of the Asian tsunami.

John was to record his contribution to a cover of Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven” on Thursday at a London studio, with Bocelli recording today.

The single is an initiative of Sharon Osbourne, wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, and proceeds will go to aid organization Save the Children’s operations in tsunami-affected regions.

Additional recordings for the single — which also will feature singing from Pink, Rod Stewart, actor Robert Downey Jr., Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne, Gwen Stefani, Phil Collins, Josh Groban and Aerosmith’s Steve Tyler — are planned in Los Angeles next week, organizers said.

‘Amazing Race’ a learning experience for entrepreneurs

New York — Married entrepreneurs Jonathan Baker and Victoria Fuller bickered their way across the globe on CBS’ “The Amazing Race” but were eliminated during Tuesday’s episode.

“I knew that he was going to be over the top. I know Jon very well,” Fuller told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “I know he can be very enthusiastic. I was a little taken aback by his intensity. It was so off the charts.”

Baker went into the competition with hopes of being the show’s villain, but he had no idea “it would look like that.” Most of “that” were arguments and a shoving incident with his wife.

“I turned off my compassion,” Baker said. “I pushed the envelope too far. I learned a lot about myself. I’m deeply sorry if I offended people out there. I look at what I saw up there, and I didn’t like the person that I saw.”

“It was definitely a learning experience,” Fuller said. “You have to see yourself at your worst to be yourself at your best. I hope America gives us a chance. Jon and I been together a long time. Eight years is like a lifetime if you live in Los Angeles.”
