? Free State and Lawrence High’s boys swimming and diving teams took 1-2 at Topeka High on Thursday, dominating a seven-team field.

With 657 points, Free State won the meet, while Lawrence High took second with 452 points.

The Firebirds were the class of the meet, taking first in all three relays and six of the nine individual events. Chase Torgerson (200 free, 500 free) and Chris Sellon (200 IM, 100 back) won multiple individual events.

Lawrence’s Nick Leet was the individual diving champion with a score of 244.30, while the Lions fared well in the 500 freestyle, where Zach Hendersen, Eric Marlow and Jeff Standing took second, third and fourth.

“They looked good,” LHS coach Ryan Adams said. “We’re coming off a lot of meets in a row. I was expecting the guys to be kind of tired, but they stepped up and raced well. Second out of seven is our best finish this season.”
