Vicki Jo McNitt Reeves, Lawrence

Mrs. Reeves died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 29, 1951, in Camp LeJeune, N.C., the daughter of William and Joy Swisher McNitt. She was raised in Ulysses and graduated as valedictorian from Ulysses High School. She attended Colorado State College and graduated from Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Mrs. Reeves worked for McNitt Drug and Hathaway & Kimball Law Offices in Ulysses. She was a traveling auditor for the state of Kansas. She worked as a bookkeeper for First United Methodist Church, United Child Development Center and Children’s Learning Center. She also was a self-employed tax accountant.

Mrs. Reeves was a member of the church’s Celebration Ringers and Chronic Illness Support Group. She also served on the board of directors of Douglas County Child Development Assn.

She married John David Reeves in January 1971. They divorced.

Survivors include a longtime companion, Mark Hill, of the home; a son, David Reeves, Lawrence; two daughters, Mary Nelle, Decatur, Ill., and Emily Reeves, New York; and a brother, Jay McNitt, Prairie Village.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the church, sent in care of Lawrence Funeral Chapel.
