Graveside services for Ernest Leroy Goodger, 91, Topeka, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Clinton Cemetery in rural Douglas County with military honors by American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14.
Mr. Goodger died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Eventide Convalescent Center in Topeka.
He was born April 29, 1913, in rural Douglas County, the son of Charles and Anna Harbor Goodger. He grew up in Belleville.
Mr. Goodger served in the U.S. military during World War II. After his discharge he attended carpentry school. He worked in the Kansas City, Mo., stockyards and managed a farm for the K.C. Commission Co. He worked as a construction foreman and a private contractor. In his retirement he was involved in the cattle industry.
He was a member of American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14.
Survivors include a brother, Archie, Eudora.
A son, George Clark Goodger, died earlier.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to American Legion Building Fund, sent in care of the funeral home.
