Brianna Maree Mitchell, Lawrence

Ms. Mitchell died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 8, 1976, the daughter of Hal Edward and Kathy E. Bogh Mitchell. She lived in Lawrence since 2003, when she moved from Manhattan.

She graduated from Kansas State University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. She became a research assistant at Yale University, and later worked at Kansas State and Kansas University. She won a number of scholarships and awards for research, and had her work published in several professional journals.

Survivors include her mother, Lawrence; her grandparents, Carl and Peggy Palermo, Blue Springs, Mo., and Keith and Sharon Bogh, Rossville, Ga.; a sister, Katryna Miller, Lawrence; three brothers, Tavis Mitchell and Cary Miller, both of Lawrence, and Sean Miller, Manhattan.

The family suggests memorials to the National Association for Mental Illness, sent in care of Lawrence Funeral Chapel.
