Betty Boyle
Services for Betty Boyle, 78, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Boyle died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
She was born March 15, 1926, in Hamilton, Bermuda, the daughter of Alfred and Theresa Talbot Bardgett.
Mrs. Boyle was employed as a housekeeper at Kansas University at the chancellor’s residence for the Dykes, Shankel and Budig families. She retired in 1989. She formerly worked at the Dine-A-Mite, Terrill’s and Duck’s Seafood. She was also an owner of Duck’s Seafood for several years.
She was a member of Westside Presbyterian Church and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
She married Harry Boyle Jr. on March 26, 1946, in Bermuda. He died Jan. 14, 1989.
A grandson also died earlier.
Survivors include four sons, Edward E. “Ted” Boyle, Harry Gene Boyle, Terry R. Boyle and Alan R. “Rick” Boyle, all of Lawrence; a daughter, Beverly A.O. McPherson, Overbrook; a brother, Walter Bardgett, Smiths, Bermuda; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. The casket will remain closed.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of the mortuary.
