Aquahawk champions: Twelve Lawrence Aquahawks swimmers earned first-place finishes at a meet last weekend at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center: Maggie Arensberg, Rosemary Black, Heather Cistola, Phoebe Grabill, Maddie McCaffrey, Kate McCurdy, Chandler McElhaney, Elizabeth Padgett, Emilie Padgett, Anne Reed-Weston, Lucy Sirimongkhon-Dyck and Maryanne Smith.

KVSA Ref Course Looms: The Kaw Valley Soccer Assn. will hold a two-day entry-level referee certification course Feb. 19 and 26 at the United Way Building, 2518 Ridge Court. The clinic is open to adults and youth 12 and older. For more information, go to http://www.kansasreferee.com.

Lawrence Runners Ranked: Two Lawrence runners were ranked No. 1 in their age groups in the state. Steve Riley, 50, was No. 1 in the 50-54 group last year with an adjusted 10K time of 35:04. Dick Wilson, 72, was No. 1 for the third straight year in the 70-74 group with an adjusted 10K time of 43:48.

Prairie Fire Gold: Amanda Morris, Deidre Housworth and Shelby Bowman of Prairie Fire Wrestling Club earned gold medals in the girls division of the Atchison River Rats tourney. Silver medals went to Brittany Brown and Desiree Housworth, and bronze medals were earned by Jessica Bowman and Bailey Cole. In the open boys division, Dylan Housworth finished third. In the novice division, Trey Jimboy earned a first place, Riley Buller a third and Dusty Morris a fourth.
