Ernest D. ‘Buzz’ Sloniger
Leavenworth ? Graveside services for Ernest D. “Buzz” Sloniger, 72, Oskaloosa, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Sloniger died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at his home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1932, in York, Neb., the son of Ernest and Edna May Hoss Sloniger. He moved from Grand Island, Neb., to Oskaloosa in 1976. He graduated from Grand Island High School in 1949.
Mr. Sloniger served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1955. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Perry and retired in 1991.
He married Beaulah Ann Alvis on Oct. 1, 1963, in Fairbury, Neb. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, William, Stromsburg, Neb., and Rusty, Oskaloosa; two daughters, Rachel Ann Turpin, Newport News, Va., and Debra Sue Sloniger, Oskaloosa; a sister, Betty June Dixon, Grand Island; and 10 grandchildren.
A son, Ernest D. Sloniger Jr., died earlier.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. The casket will remain closed.
