Kellerman still unbeaten; LHS finishes fourth

Overland Park –Nolan Kellerman ran his record to 21-0 Saturday, leading Lawrence High to a fourth-place finish in the 12-team Shawnee Mission South Wrestling Invitational.

Kellerman won all three of his matches at 160 pounds — including an 8-5 semifinal victory over Platte County’s Jeremy Butrous, ranked second in Missouri, and a 5-4 final-round victory over Atchison’s Dustin Bartlett, a Class 4A state medalist last year.

Lawrence will have its only home meet of the season at 5 p.m. Wednesday when the Lions play host to Topeka West and Topeka High.

Firebirds place at Derby

Derby — Free State’s Jesse Hardy was 4-1 at 189 pounds and took third place in the 15-team Derby Invitational on Saturday. Mike Goble (125) finished fourth for the Firebirds, who finished 12th in the team standings.
