Leona B. Schmidt

? Services for Leona B. Schmidt, 91, Winchester, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry.

Mrs. Schmidt died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Winchester Geriatric Center.

She was born April 3, 1913, in Browns Valley, Minn., the daughter of Anton and Anna Kaiser Barten. She lived in Perry for 29 years. She formerly lived at Lake Quivira for 24 years.

Mrs. Schmidt was a homemaker. She attended Williamstown Assembly of God Church. She was a volunteer and member of Full Faith Church of Love at Lake Quivira.

She married Ralph M. Schmidt Sr., on Dec. 21, 1932, in Waukesha, Wis. He died May 5, 2000.

Survivors include three sons, Ralph M. Schmidt Jr., Winter Park, Fla., William B. Schmidt, Stanley, and Edward J. Schmidt, Mission; a daughter, Barbara Ann Thomas, Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; two brothers, Norbert Barten, Granton, Wis., and Edward Barten, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; three sisters, Roberta Grace Axford and Lucille Schmitt, both of Marshfield, Wis., and MaryAnn Abrahamson, Milwaukee, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
