Armstrong services

Funeral services for Dorothy Nadine Armstrong, 66, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie City Cemetery in Baldwin.

Mrs. Armstrong died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Oklahoma, the daughter of Zackariah and Pearl Adam Dover.

Mrs. Armstrong grew up in Oklahoma and in the early 1950s moved to Lawrence, where she had worked at Joe’s Bakery for the past 30 years.

She married Jack Armstrong on March 31, 1964. He died in 1992. After her husband’s death, she lived with her companion, J.W. Basinger, until his death.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolina Cobb, Baldwin, and Jackquline Waddell, Hanau, Germany; three sons, Richard Baker, Baldwin, Michael Armstrong, Kincaid, and Timothy Armstrong, Cornwall, N.Y.; a brother, Zackariah “Sonny” Dover, Lawrence; four sisters, Betty Petty, Eudora, Mary Guthrie, Purcell, Okla., Elizabeth Wilson, Mississippi, and Loraine Putman, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.
