Piper clips Chargers
CARBONDALE ? Santa Fe Trail couldn’t overcome a late 11-point deficit in a 48-44 high school boys basketball loss to Kansas City Piper on Friday.
“We never should have been in hole in first place,” SFT coach Jason Schaffer said. “We got away from what we do best, and Piper was a big reason for that.”
The Chargers managed to tie it at 44 with two minutes remaining, but were held scoreless the rest of the way.
Shawn Conklin paced SFT with 18 points.
Santa Fe Trail (8-12) will entertain Holton on Monday night in the first round of sub-state.
