Winifred M. ‘Winnie’ Higgins, Peoria, Ill.

? Mass of Christian Burial for Winifred M. “Winnie” Higgins, 89, Peoria, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Peoria. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.

Mrs. Higgins died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Peoria, the daughter of Lee and Ethel Reilly Brown. She attended Bradley University in Peoria, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority.

Mrs. Higgins was a legal secretary for more than 40 years for Robert L. Burhans in Peoria and retired in 1981. She was recently a study buddy at Northmoor Edison Primary School. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.

She married William F. “Bill” Higgins on Feb. 27, 1946, in Peoria. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Mary Lee Hummert, Lawrence, Kan., Margaret “Peggy” and Nancy Higgins, both of Peoria; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Wright and Salmon Mortuary with a scripture service at 5:45 p.m. The family will also receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service.
