Olive Rita Moses, Lawrence
Services for Olive Rita Moses, 83, Lawrence, will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be at a later date in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mrs. Moses died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Newark, N.J., the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Irma Reimann Porch. She graduated from Newark School of Nursing and attended Kansas University for three years.
Mrs. Moses served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a flight nurse in the Philippines during World War II. She worked as a registered nurse at Watkins Hospital at Kansas University and at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for seven years. She also worked at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center and De Soto Nursing Home.
She married Edward Russell Moses, III, on April 20, 1946, in Newark. They divorced.
Survivors include two sons, Edward R. “Woody,” Topeka, and James, Eudora; two daughters, Jessica Harrison, McCloud, Okla., and Nancy Moses, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A son, David, died May 1, 1992.
The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Aids Project, sent in care of the mortuary.
