George Walter ‘Mike’ Maichel, Overbrook

? Services for George Walter “Mike” Maichel, 58, Overbrook, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Overbrook. Burial will follow in Overbrook Cemetery.

Mr. Maichel died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in Overbrook.

He was born Dec. 30, 1946, in Lawrence, the son of George B. and Meta Louise Brown Maichel. He graduated from Overbrook Rural High School in 1964 and attended Kansas State University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Mr. Maichel served in the U.S. Army Reserve for seven years. He managed the Maichel farm and owned and operated Maichel Truck Line. He was a member of Anderson-Raible Post 239 of the American Legion, United Methodist Church and the volunteer fire department, all in Overbrook. He was also a member of the American Truckers Assn.

He married Anita Lynne Jolly on July 30, 1988. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include his father, Overbrook; and two sisters, Jacqualine Lea Boeka, Arvada, Colo., and Sally Jo Maichel Wiebe, West Palm Beach, Fla.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday before the service.
