  • Hoopsters Second: Lawrence Hoopsters third-grade boys basketball team finished as runner-up at the Junction City Fast Breaker Tournament. Team members are Hunter Fellers, Anthony Bonner, Bryce MontesDeOca, Stan Skwarlo, Zach McNabb, Drew Green, Keith Loneker, Tanner Glazer and Saxon Seaberg. Coaches are Rick McNabb, Sebastian Bonner and Keith Loneker.
  • Rower Shines: Kathy Heflin of Lawrence finished third nationally in the junior women’s lightweight division at the Crash B International indoor rowing championships in Boston. Heflin, 16, was four seconds out of first place.
  • Bregman Scores: Scott Bregman of Lawrence Gymnastics Academy placed third in floor exercise with a 9.4 score and third on the vault in Level 10 competition at the BlackJack Nationals Feb. 5 in Las Vegas.
  • Golden Oldies Golf: Lawrence’s Golden Oldies golf series for ages 60 and up has four events scheduled this year — March 31 at the Orchards, June 29 at Eagle Bend, Aug. 17 at Alvamar and Oct. 5 at Eagle Bend. The first three are four-man scrambles. The fourth will be a medal play tourney. For information, call Lynn Goodell at 856-5772.
  • Gymnastics Gold: Noel Fisher and Brendan McGarity of Kansas School of Gymnastics earned all-around gold medals at Levels 6 and 7 respectively at the Shannon Martin Invitational last weekend at KU’s Robinson Gym. Other KSG placers were Eddie Wilson, Miller Wolf, Akram Laytimi, Nathan Shobe and Worth Singles-Smith.

  • Force Girls Champs: Kaw Valley Force U-9 girls soccer team won the Arrowhead 3×3 Tournament last weekend in Kansas City. Team members are Madeline Dieker, Kaitlin Dunbar, Casey Oslowsky, Alexa Harmon-Thomas and Olivia Hodison. Sarah Garcia is the coach. The Force U-13 girls finished second. Team members are Gracy Lang, Hannah Carlson, Kaley Tesdahl, Rachael Hodison, Olivia Dykes and Jordan Payne. Riny de Boer is the coach.
  • Wrestling Standouts: Dottie Housworth, Deidre Housworth, Shelby Bowman, Bailey Cole and Tabitha Carroll of Prairie Fire Wrestling Club all won folkstyle and freestyle gold medals at the Midwest Girls Championships Sunday at Lawrence High. PFWC’s Jessica Bowman won in folkstyle. Reserve champions were Brittany Brown, Desiree Housworth and Amanda Morris.
  • KVSA Meetings: Kaw Valley Soccer Assn. will hold its recreation coaches meetings at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the United Way Building, 2518 Ridge Ct.   • PFWC Winners: Dylan Housworth and Trey Jimboy of Prairie Fire Wrestling Club won gold medals at the Thunderbird Open. Housworth also won at Pleasant Ridge and Jimboy at the Topeka Tornados meet. Other PFWC placers were Riley Buller, Adrian Staab and Brittany Brown.
  • Volleyball Champs: Kayla Nolte, Shelby White and Banaka Okwuone of Lawrence played on the Topeka Juniors Junior Olympic Volleyball Club that won the silver division of the President’s Classic last weekend in Omaha, Neb.
  • Falbo Qualifiers: Taylor Eubanks and Matt Hansen of Lawrence’s Falbo Knows Tennis Academy have qualified for the USTA/Missouri Valley Sweet Sixteen championships.
  • Soccer Clinic: Kansas University soccer will conduct an all-levels high school girls clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Anschutz Pavilion. For information, call Kara Lowery at 864-5833.
  • LGA Standout: Drue Davis of Lawrence Gymnastics Academy finished second in floor ex and on bars and was fourth in the all-around in Level 6 at the Land of Oz meet in Wichita. Other LGA placers were Abbey Bays, Jacqueline Zaitz and Mariah Anstaett.
  • Champion Flames: Sport 2 Sport Eighth-Grade Flames won the MAYB Tournament Feb. 13 at Sport 2 Sport. Team members are Taylor Bird, Haley Epperson, Tania Jackson, Ashli Hill, Taylor Manning, Shelby Miller, Cassie Potter, Bailey Scott, Jasmyn Turner and Tracie Weege. Coaches are Troy Bird and Danny Manning.
