David F. Hanson, Lawrence

Services for David F. Hanson, 70, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Private inurnment will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mr. Hanson died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 30, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Loring and Lois Laptad Hanson. He received his Masters in Business Administration from Kansas University in 1981. He moved to Lawrence from Eudora four years ago.

Mr. Hanson served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He served in Vietnam and retired as a lieutenant commander. He worked for the state Department of Administration in communications until he retired in 1998. He was a member of TROA Retired Officers Assn., Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

He married Mary Louise Born on May 2, 1959, in San Diego. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Timothy, Frisco, Colo., and Michael, Lawrence; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Heart of America Assn., Disabled American Veterans or the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary.
