Girls roll; boys fall

? Seabury Academy’s girls basketball squad rolled to a 41-16 victory Tuesday over the Kansas School for the Deaf in a Class 1A sub-state opener.

Laura Frizell scored 14 points for the Seahawks.

“It was a very good opening-round game for us,” Seabury coach Nick Taylor said.

Things will be tougher for Seabury in the second round Thursday when the team travels to face Centralia.

“They’re 18-0, and they’re really good,” Taylor said. “But if we play like we can play, we’ll hang in there, and we’ll be just fine.”

Olathe — The Seabury boys shot poorly until the fourth quarter in a season-ending loss in Class 1A regional play. Adam Davis had 16 points, and Grayson Dillon added 11 for the Seahawks (7-14).

“Really, in terms of the game plan, it was executed well,” Seabury coach Marcus Heckman said. “And our shot selection was good, we just didn’t hit shots.”
