Veritas prevails, 61-54

? Veritas Christian took another step toward clinching the second seed for next week’s boys basketball sub-state tournament.

The Eagles (14-7), who need only to win Tuesday at Topeka Cair Paravel to claim the No. 2 seed, defeated Olathe Christian, 61-54, Saturday night.

“They’re a good team,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said of Olathe Christian. “This is a big win for us.”

Mark Randtke led all scorers with 25 points — including hitting both of his three-point attempts — and snagged 11 rebounds. Paul Kempf had 11 points and four steals, Noah Barclay tallied 11 points, and Andrew Bartlow had eight points and nine rebounds.
