HINU women fall in finale

? Haskell Indian Nations University’s women’s basketball season concluded Saturday with a 77-66 loss at York College.

The Fightin’ Indians (10-16) were led by Lucita Yesslith, who had 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds. HINU also got 16 points and six rebounds from Maria Stevens, and Samantha Pete added 13 points before fouling out.

The Fightin’ Indians, who lost Friday night, 61-49, to St. Mary’s in Omaha, trailed by just three at halftime to York, the league’s third-place team.

York made 30 of 37 free-throw attempts, compared to Haskell’s 8-of-13 shooting. The Fightin’ Indians outshot the home team from the floor (41.3 percent compared to 31.1 percent) and from three-point range (35.3 percent versus 33.3 percent).
