Leah Jean Putman, 82, Lawrence, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence.She was born July 2, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Omar Oliver and Leah Saunders Putman.
Leah Jean Putman, 82, Lawrence, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence.
She was born July 2, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Omar Oliver and Leah Saunders Putman. She moved from Cambria, Calif., to Lawrence in 2001. She was a graduate of Paseo High School in Kansas City, Mo.
Miss Putman worked as a machinist supervisor for a gear company in the Los Angeles area for many years before she retired. She was a member of Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services during World War II from 1944 to 1946. She was also a member of the California Woodcarvers Assn.
Survivors include four nephews, Chuck Woodling, Lawrence, Bob Woodling, Redmond, Wash., Dennis Woodling, Marietta, Ga., and Andrew Weis, San Antonio.
The family suggests memorials to organization of the donor’s choice, sent in care of Lawrence Funeral Chapel.
