Sunny skies bringing warmer weather

Later today, you can put away your heavy coat and grab some sunglasses.

“We’re heading up near 50 this afternoon,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “The sunshine is out in full force.”

At 8:15 a.m., the temperature was 22, with calm winds and clear skies.

“We’re the coldest spot in Kansas,” Schack said. By noon, temperatures will rise to the mid 40s and work up to 50 by late afternoon, she said. “We have plenty of sunshine to start off our morning. There’s no precipitation in the forecast today.”

Clear skies will continue tonight, with the low dropping to 25 by early Friday morning, she said. A cold front begins pushing in from the north Friday afternoon, keeping the temperature to only 44, she said.

High clouds start to approach on Friday, with cloud cover and moisture arriving for the weekend, Schack said.

Saturday’s morning low will be 31, with the high climbing to 44.

“We bring in the chance for showers Saturday evening,” Schack said.
