Jennie Melsena Stowe, Lawrence

Mrs. Stowe died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 17, 1911, in Neely, the daughter of Henry and Nellie Pecka Murr.

Mrs. Stowe was a homemaker and sold her fruits and vegetables from a truck garden in North Lawrence for 50 years.

She married Glenn T. Messenheimer on June 1, 1932. They divorced. She married Harold E. Stowe on May 31, 1946, in Ottawa. He died July 31, 1991.

Survivors include three sons, Gary L. Stowe, Kansas City, Mo., Ronald D. Stowe, Lawrence, and Henry A. Messenheimer, Los Angeles; a stepson, Larry G. Stowe, Wichita; two stepdaughters, Joan K. Archer, Aurora, Colo., and Patricia Kolpin, Toledo, Iowa; a brother, Charles Murr, Monte Vista, Colo.; two grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.

The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the funeral home.
