Veritas surges to victory

? It took awhile for the Veritas Christian boys basketball to get its offense going, but it caught fire in the fourth quarter and pulled away from Topeka Heritage Christian.

Forward Mark Randtke scored 10 of his 19 points the final quarter to lift the Eagles to a 53-45 victory Tuesday.

Veritas coach Doug Bennett was quick to give his defense credit.

“They tried to use a lot of the clock, and it was a very slow-tempo game, and we like for it to move a little quicker,” Bennett said. “We stepped up our defense and made them pick up the pace and play better ball.”

Paul Kempf added 10 points for Veritas, which will play host Thursday to Kansas City North.
