Temperatures to hit mid 40s today

Today’s weather gets a letter grade of C — the high of 46 will match the median high for this date in the temperature record books, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“We’re right on average,” Schack said. There’s no precipitation in the forecast today, but there will be some high clouds pushing in from the west and southwest, she said.

“That will keep our temperatures 7 to 8 degrees cooler than we were yesterday,” she said.

At 8:30 a.m. the temperature was 28, with a northwest 5-mph making the wind chill 23 degrees, under mostly sunny skies.

“If you’re heading out today, grab your coat. It’s a chilly start,” she said. “We will be keeping our temperatures in the upper 20s this morning, but climb into the 40s this afternoon.”

Overnight, the temperature will take a plunge down to a low of 21, she said.

“I think we see plenty of sunshine tomorrow, ” Schack said. Thursday’s high will reach 48, with some clouds, she said.

Friday’s morning low will be 27, with Friday’s high reaching 45 under cloudy skies.

“By the weekend, we start to bring in some showers,” she said.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 20 percent chance of snow and freezing rain Friday night, with a 40 percent chance of a winter mix of rain, snow and freezing rain on Saturday before noon and a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday night.
