Jury picked for Murray trial

A jury has been picked for the trial of Thomas Murray, a Kansas State University professor accused of killing his ex-wife.

As of 11 a.m. today, attorneys for the defense and prosecution had completed their screening of jury candidates and settled on 10 women and 5 men. Which three of the 15 would serve as alternate jurors was not decided.

The jury selection clears the way for testimony to begin Thursday in the trial that is expected to last from four to six weeks.

Murray is accused in the stabbing death of Carmin Ross, a rural Lawrence resident. Police have called the killing one of the most brutal in Douglas County history.
