FSHS bowling sweeps

? Free State High’s boys bowling team maintained its unscathed mark, improving to 9-0 with a 2,485-2,286 victory Monday afternoon against Olathe South.

Following suit, the varsity girls squad defeated the Falcons, 2,095-1,751. The girls’ record is 7-2.

None of the boys’ top-four scorers recorded a series below 583, and the Firebirds were led by Jeremy Healy, whose 254 in his first game led to an amazing 689 series mark.

Dacia Sprow carded the highest series for the girls, with a 596.

Another interesting storyline that emerged from the two-team dual came from the junior varsity boys competition. Free State and Olathe South actually tied, which is a rarity in high school bowling, 2,148-2,148.

The Firebirds will be back on the lanes competitively Thursday at Royal Crest Lanes in a three-team face-off with Lawrence High and Oskaloosa.
