KSU’s Hayden out for season

? Kansas State junior forward Marques Hayden will not return to the team this season, head coach Jim Wooldridge said Saturday.

Wooldridge announced Hayden’s status prior to Kansas State’s game at Texas, but did not give any reason for Hayden’s departure from the team.

School officials said Hayden would not be involved in any team-related activity for the rest of the season, but would remain enrolled in classes.

His future with the program will be decided at a later date.

“We feel at this time it is in the best interests of Marques and the program that he not return to the team this year,” Wooldridge said.

Hayden, 21, of Oklahoma City, hadn’t appeared in a game since Jan. 26. He was shooting 43.2 percent from the field, averaging 6.8 points per game and 5.3 rebounds.

Earlier in the season, Hayden complained about not fitting into the team’s system, a comment that was followed by diminished playing time.
