You can say goodbye to the white stuff today. With the temperatures heading up into the 50s, the remains of this week’s 3-inch snow should be melted off by the end of the day, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. However, rain is in the forecast for the weekend.

Lawrence was the coldest spot in Kansas this morning, Schack said. At 8:15 a.m. , the temperature was 21, with a northwesterly 5-mph wind making the wind chill 15 degrees.

“It is kind of a chilly start, so you’ll need to take your coat,” Schack said. But skies will be mostly sunny today, helping to bring the temperatures up above average for this time of year.

“We have a high today of 51 degrees,” Schack said. The average high is 44 and the average low is 25.

Overnight, the low will drop to 29 by early Saturday morning, she said.

Another warm day is expected Saturday, with temperatures rising up to a high of 53 by Saturday afternoon. But clouds will be thickening up during the day on Saturday, and there’s a chance of rain in the evening and overnight into Sunday, she said. The best chance is from midnight to 7 a.m. Sunday, she said.

“Most of it’s gone by Sunday. But we do have a chance of some early morning rain,” she said. Sunday’s morning low will be 43, with Sunday’s high reaching 48.

The weather will be warm and mostly sunny Monday for Valentine’s Day, with the low starting in the morning at 35 and climbing to 54 by Monday afternoon, Schack said.
