Martin Seibel, Eudora
Services for Martin Seibel, 91, Eudora, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Seibel died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Eudora Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Ellis, the son of Rudolph and Caroline Georgia Seibel. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in civil engineering. He lived in Hutchinson for 38 years.
Mr. Seibel served in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific. He worked with the Department of Transportation as a district engineer for the 5th District for 47 years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Professional Engineers, AARP, Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Alford-Clarke Post No. 852.
He married Gwen Guthrie on June 10, 1939, in Wichita. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Karen Seibel, Lawrence, Diane Chrislip, Eudora, and Shelly Houghton, Minneapolis; a son, Charles, Lawrence; a sister, Betty Nauert, Larned; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. before the services at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or the church, sent in care of the mortuary, 1003 John L. Williams Drive, Eudora 66025.
