Andrew Kerr Keenan, Ness City

Mr. Keenan died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at his home, from brain cancer.

He was born Oct. 11, 1978, in Ness City, the son of Terrence Lee “Terry” and Gloria Jane Kerr Keenan. He was a cum laude graduate of Fort Hays State University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He recently earned a law degree from Kansas University School of Law.

Mr. Keenan was honored by the Docking Institute for Public Affairs on the Fort Hays Campus with a lab named Keenan Lab. He was awarded an Outstanding Inspirational Award by the law school. He organized a fund to help raise awareness and money for brain cancer research.

Survivors include a significant other, Erica Rachel Brown, Olathe; his parents, Ness City; a grandmother, Elvira Kerr, Ness City; a brother, Brett Dale Keenan, Ness City; and a sister, Jill Marie Chesterman, Hutchinson.

The family suggests memorials to the Andrew Keenan Memorial Fund for the Brain Tumor Center at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, sent in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home, P.O. Box 96, Ness City 67560.
