Services for Walter Larson, 68, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Unity Church of Lawrence.

Mr. Larson died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, in Lawrence.

He was born March 30, 1936, in Tilton, Alaska, the son of Walter Edward and Ann Partridge Larson.

Mr. Larson served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was a tugboat captain and later a port captain in Alaska. He worked in Alaska, the West Coast, the Gulf of Mexico, Europe, the Middle East and South America. He was a published author of many seafarer adventure novels. He was a member of Unity Church, Lawrence Writers Group and a 23-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

He married Gloria Carroll in 1959. They divorced.

Survivors include a son, Kenny, Panama City, Fla.; and three daughters, Terry Green, Donna Self and Nancy Larson Shealy, all of Panama City; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
