Boy Scout Troop 55, chartered to the Westside Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, had its annual winter survival campout Jan. 29-30, 2005, at Joe Wilson’s farm, north of Eudora.

Scouts tested their winter-camping skills by building and sleeping under shelters made of cedar boughs, leaves and grass. They practiced fire building and cooked all of their meals over an open fire without the use of pots or pans. Several scouts worked on their Wilderness Survival Merit Badge.

Scouts who participated were Mitchell McCune, Jacob Christilles, Matt Avila, Steve Norris, Ben Vogel and Alan O’Neal. They were accompanied by adult leaders George Vogel, Dennis Christilles, Jim Peterson and Joe Wilson.
