Wichita ? A Wichita television station says it has received another postcard that could be from the BTK serial killer.

KAKE-TV reported Thursday that the latest postcard thanked the TV station for its quick response to two previous messages purportedly from BTK, which the sender called communications No. 7 and No. 8.

Besides a personal message for KAKE, the TV station said the postcard contained a message for Wichita police, which KAKE did not reveal at the request of police. KAKE also turned the postcard over to police.

In a news release Thursday night, Wichita police said the letter “could possibly be connected to the BTK investigation” and that it was given to the FBI for authentication.

BTK — which stands for “Bind, Torture, Kill” — has been linked to eight unsolved killings from 1974 through 1986. He resurfaced in March with letters to media and police.

Thursday’s note was the third communication claiming to be from BTK that has been found in about a week. KAKE reported that the sender wrote that he was sorry for the colds that two of the TV station’s anchors, Susan Peters and Jeff Herndon, mentioned they were suffering from during a recent broadcast. The postcard’s return address said “Happ Kakemann” and listed KAKE’s address.

One of KAKE’s longtime journalists, Larry Hatteburg, also told viewers Thursday that police had taken a DNA swab from him — the latest in a string of swabs taken from reporters who have covered the BTK story.

Police have collected more than 4,000 DNA swabs in an effort to find the killer.

Last week, KAKE received a message purportedly from BTK that the writer called communication No. 8, which referenced a package found in a rural area northwest of Wichita. That message also asked if KAKE had found communication No. 7, which police said they later found.

Police have said they believe that those messages and the package are connected to BTK and sent all materials to the FBI.
