Thomas signs another 10-day deal

? Former Kansas University basketball guard Billy Thomas has signed a second 10-day contract with the New Jersey Nets.

Thomas, who was signed to an initial 10-day contract January 20, has averaged 6.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in six games with the Nets. If the Nets wish to retain Thomas after the second 10-day contract, they must sign him for the remainder of the season.

Thomas, 29, scored 12 points on consecutive nights against Sacramento and Golden State last week. He hit five of six shots, including two of three threes while logging 18 minutes against the Warriors.

Thomas, who averaged 4.1 points in seven games with the Washington Wizards during the preseason, played with the Nets in summer league competition in 2002 and 2003. The 6-4 Thomas graduated from Kansas University in 1998.
