Bakery gets more time to file financial reports

? Interstate Bakeries Corp. said Friday its lenders have agreed to waive requirements that it file long-delayed financial reports by the end of the year until it solves a disagreement over its pension obligations.

In a securities filing, the Kansas City, Mo.-based maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread said it was still trying to negotiating with the American Bakers Assn. over whether to treat the association’s pension program as a multiple-employer plan or as a collection of single-employer plans in determining how much the company must contribute.

The company in October said its inability to reach a conclusion with the ABA was preventing it from completing quarterly and annual reports going back before the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2004.

Shares of Interstate Bakeries, which trade over the counter, were unchanged at $7.45 at the close of trading Friday.
