Tigers rebound to beat Eastern Illinois

? One week after being routed by No. 6 Illinois, Missouri bounced back Wednesday to beat Eastern Illinois, 68-56.

The Tigers (5-4) were led by Thomas Gardner, who scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the second half.

Marshall Brown had 19 points and 11 rebounds, his first career double-double, and senior Jimmy McKinney added 11 points for Missouri.

Iowa State 59, Tennessee State 51

Ames, Iowa – Rahshon Clark led Iowa State with 14 points, including a three-pointer with less than a minute remaining that sealed the Cyclones’ victory. Iowa State finished its nonconference schedule with four straight victories and a 10-3 record.

Alabama-Birmingham 90, Oklahoma State 71

Birmingham, Ala. – Marvett McDonald scored a career-high 27 points, and Wen Mukubu added 16 to lead UAB past Oklahoma State.

No. 14 Oklahoma 81, Oral Roberts 73

Norman, Okla. – Kevin Bookout had 24 points and 10 rebounds as Oklahoma rebounded from an embarrassing loss. Oklahoma (7-2) extended its home-game winning streak against nonconference foes to 45 games.

Champaign, Ill. – Dee Brown scored 16 points, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer at halftime, to lead Illinois to its 13th straight victory.

No. 2 Connecticut 85, Stony Brook 52

Hartford, Conn. – Hilton Armstrong had 11 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high eight blocks to lead unbeaten Connecticut over winless Stony Brook.

Armstrong, Ed Nelson and Josh Boone delivered a dominating inside game for the second-ranked Huskies (10-0), who outscored Stony Brook, 44-28, in the paint.

No. 9 Michigan State 80, Tennessee Tech 63

East Lansing, Mich. – Maurice Ager scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half, and Michigan State struggled past Tennessee Tech.

Drew Neitzel added 14 points, Shannon Brown 13 and Paul Davis and Marquise Gray 10 each as Michigan State (11-2) won its 10th straight, the Spartans’ longest streak since 2001.

No. 10 Louisville 89, Fairleigh Dickinson 66

Louisville, Ky. – Taquan Dean scored 19 points, leading four Louisville players in double figures, and the Cardinals cruised past Fairleigh Dickinson.

Brandon Jenkins had 17 points, David Padgett added 16 points and seven rebounds, and Juan Palacios had 13 points and seven rebounds as Louisville (10-1) took control midway through the first half.

No. 19 N.C. State 81, New Hampshire 62

Raleigh, N.C. – Engin Atsur scored all of his 15 points on three-pointers, reserve Andrew Brackman added 14 points as North Carolina State cruised past New Hampshire.

Ilian Evtimov had 11 points for the Wolfpack (10-1), who won their fifth straight.

College Park, Md. – Nik Caner-Medley scored 16 points, and Maryland limited Delaware State to five baskets in the first half. Ekene Ibekwe had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Terrapins (9-2), who forced the Hornets into 5-for-20 shooting while building a 36-13 halftime lead.

No. 21 Ohio State 87, Gardner-Webb 58

Columbus, Ohio – Terence Dials had his way inside with 23 points, and Ohio State remained unbeaten.

The Buckeyes (9-0) came into the night as one of only 12 Division I teams without a loss. The last time they won their first nine games was the 1990-91 season, when they started 17-0.

Chapel Hill, N.C. – Freshman Danny Green had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead a balanced effort for North Carolina.

Reyshawn Terry, Tyler Hansbrough and Marcus Ginyard each added 14 points for the Tar Heels (7-2), who bounced back from last week’s loss at USC with an easy victory against a Big South Conference opponent. Hansbrough also had eight steals, tying a Smith Center record and finishing one shy of tying the school’s single-game record set by Derrick Phelps in 1992.

No. 24 Wisconsin 78, Louisiana Tech 52

Madison, Wis. – Brian Butch scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and had 10 rebounds as Wisconsin beat Louisiana Tech. The Badgers (10-1), coming off a nearly two-week layoff, are off to their best start in Bo Ryan’s tenure and since 2000-01.
