Mild day in store for Lawrence

The end of 2005 will be unseasonably mild.

“It’s clear and sunny,” said Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist.

At 8:35 a.m., the temperature was 29 degrees, the humidity was 92 percent and winds were calm. Despite the humidity, there was no sign of fog, said Reith.

Temperatures will top out at about 57 degrees, Reith said, and will fall to about 35 overnight.

“We might see a chance of light drizzle or light rain tomorrow morning,” Reith said. A weak low-pressure system is crossing south-central Kansas, but should not develop into precipitation until it has nearly reached Missouri.

Wednesday should be cooler, with a high of 44 degrees, but the temperatures will be above-average for the rest of the week. New Year’s Eve should be clear with a high in the low 50s.
