Snow job

To the editor:

I don’t have a driver’s license. As a result, I’m lucky enough to have the services of the T. In addition, I walk or ride my bike. However, the T sometimes doesn’t fit into where I am and where I need to be. So, most of the time I’m compelled to walk. So?

While waiting on the No. 7 bus at 23rd and Louisiana, I decided that I would start walking. I walked from 23rd and Louisiana to Ninth and Massachusetts.

So, what’s the problem?

Well, it snowed 3 inches or more 24 hours earlier. Nobody, except one person’s sidewalk on Louisiana Street was scooped. On 19th Street, from Louisiana to Massachusetts was clean. However, walking north to Ninth, Dillons, Cottin’s, former Salvation Army center, houses, shops, etc., nothing was shoveled. No fun walking in that stuff. Took to the street (dangerous).

So, what’s the point?

The city has an ordinance/law that says you are required to remove your snow within 24 hours or get a $20 per day fine.

It appears it’s not being enforced.

So, take it off the books! Or, enforce it!

Let the 130 sheriff’s department employees and the 150 or so city police department employees, police officers, etc., enforce it. Or, appoint me the “snow cop.” I will go remove the snow, give the city $10 and I make $10. Everyone wins.
