No Douglas County residents or businesses filed for bankruptcy protection last week in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the District of Kansas, according to court records.

Since new federal bankruptcy rules took effect Oct. 17, there have been four cases filed by people living in the county.

The had been a rush of filings leading up to the change. On Sunday, Oct. 16 – the day before the deadline – there were 551 cases filed statewide, according to the court’s Web site. Of those cases, 41 involved filings from Douglas County.
