Bonus point assists ISU

? Iowa State, mistakenly awarded an extra point midway through the second half, beat Northwestern State, 81-77, in double overtime Thursday night in the semifinals of the Rainbow Classic.

Curtis Stinson of Iowa State made one of two free throws with 10:26 left in regulation, but the official scorer awarded the Cyclones an extra point as if he made both shots.

Neither team mentioned the mistake, and the error was only brought to the referees’ attention by the media covering the game at the University of Hawaii’s Stan Sheriff Center. By that point it was too late to fix the score since the rules require corrections be made within two dead balls.

Stinson and Will Blalock each had 22 points for Iowa State (8-3).
