Kristen Jordan, Courtney Luthye and Henry Schimke, all of Lawrence, received bachelor’s degrees this month from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

¢ Kansas State University announces students from the area who were candidates for graduation in December.

Those who received bachelor’s degrees were: Timothy Lee Johnson and Kimberly Sledd, Baldwin; Tammy Bissette, Bret Delka, Tyler Fike, John Howat, Bonny Martens, Nagaraj Subramanian, Elizabeth Towner, Terry Welch and Nicole Wenger, Lawrence; Haley Colbern, Erin Crowl and Amanda Jeardoe, Ottawa; Chelsea Wright, Wellsville; Jodi Kitterman, McLouth; Amber Artzer, Meriden; Tiffany Happer, Ozawkie; Cameron Willcott, Linwood; and Carol Schmitz, Tonganoxie.

Pamela Harlan, Lawrence, received a Master of Fine Arts degree.

Malcolm Smith, Lawrence, received a doctorate.

¢ Amanda Pierce, a Free State High School senior, was selected as a scholar in the 2005-2006 National Hispanic Recognition Program.

She has been accepted and plans to attend Kansas University.

Amanda is the daughter of Kerry and Mary Lou Pierce, Lawrence, and the granddaughter of Frank and Lazara Romero, Lawrence.
